Treatment of Work-Related Injuries

Norwalk Hospital Occupational Health and Rehabilitation Services provides comprehensive care of work-related injuries and provides followup care as required. We participate in many  managed care programs and strive  to reduce lost worktime, through use of modified duty as appropriate.   In addition, our care coordination procedures provide for active communicartion with the clients' workers' compensation Case Manager in order to provide for a timely return to duty. Our return to duty protocols and recommendations are designed to permit work and function as appropriate.

Evaluation and Treatment of Occupational Injuries
Our experienced clinical team provides evaluation and treatment for a wide range of non-life threatening occupational injuries. By understanding the mechanism of injury and through familiarity with the patient's work environment, our treatment approach includes a team effort to return the employee to duty with little or no lost worktime whenever possible. Our process also places emphasis on reinjury prevention.

Employers who have an active modified duty program can immediately derive benefits of this approach through reassigning employees or otherwise providing alternatve work assignments. Modified duty will help the company maintain overall productivity as the recovering employee feels valued as they contribute during recovery.

In instances where an enployer does not have a modified duty program, we can help! Our experienced team of occupational health professionals can review the work environment, review job descriptions and job functions to produce an alternative work plan that allows employees to function in a way that does not compromise recovery.

For additional information on how we can assist in developing an effective program to reduce the incidence of occupational injuries and carefully manage those which occur, call our offices today.
